Clinical Pathology

Clinical Pathology

Clinical pathology involves the laboratory evaluation of blood, bodily fluids or body tissues in order to identify existing disease. Common tests include blood tests, urinalysis, faecal tests, lump or biopsy examination, bacterial cultures and infectious disease testing.

Our clinic is equipped with an in-house blood laboratory that allows our veterinarians to quickly diagnose and treat your pet. This is especially important in very sick animals requiring immediate treatment.

Occasionally we may need to send samples off to an external specialised laboratory for more specific testing, which may take longer. These vary from a few days up to 14 days, depending on the test being performed. If we do send samples off, we will let you know as soon as the results are back and formulate a plan from there.
